My Website That Converts Creation Journey
OMGoodness, when I started out on my website journey, I did not really have a clue about customer conversion or create your lovely website that converts visitors to customers. All I knew is that I wanted to showcase what I do and do it as beautiful as possible.
So, I did just that and to my amazement hardly no one came and if they did, they did not stay very long.
I must have got at least 10 sales from all of those visitors in about a 6 month period and to be honest, most of those sales are from people that already knew me and who I had guided to my website in the first place.
Somehow, I knew there was more to it than that but where would I get the help that I needed? as there were so many website creation courses that promised fantastic outcomes.
Whilst browsing through my Facebook feed, I was attracted to an Ad campaign from a woman called Vicky Etherington who was running a website creation challenge at the time.
I decided based upon Vicky’s messaging that this was the one for me. How to create your own website without the complicated tech issues that would attract my ideal clients. Now that was an exciting thought.
On the very first day of the 5 day challenge I was in complete AWE. What I was about to learn I honestly would have paid good money for it.
It’s All About Your Client’s Desires
I was introduced to the idea of developing a connection with my audience through visual appeal and the tone of my messaging and so much more.
I was taught the importance of colours and their emotional connection.
The biggest take away I received was just how important the very first sentence that a visitor would read. I learnt that this would actually be the deciding factor of whether they would stay on my website and explore more.
I completed the 5-day challenge, I had registered my domain and subscribed to my hosting provider. I had installed WordPress and my Divi Theme Builder. Not only that, I had decided on the branding for my website and identified my ideal client. We also explored the wisdom behind creating the user journey and experience too. I knew what I wanted and where I was going. Everything became clearer and everything made sense.
But I could not get enough. I knew I needed the rest and I knew that I was in the right place. I joined Vicky’s 8 week signature program called “Rock that Website” and now I am designing and creating websites every day as part of my specialist virtual assistant offerings.
Now, take a look at these 14 Steps Of How To Create A Lovely Website That Converts Checklist:
1. **Define Your Goals:**
Before you start designing your website, clearly define your goals. Are you aiming to sell products, provide information, generate leads, or something else? Knowing your objectives will guide every aspect of your website creation.
2. **Understand Your Target Audience:**
Who are your target users? What are their needs, preferences, and pain points? Understanding your audience helps tailor your website design and content to resonate with them.
3. **Choose a Domain Name:**
Your domain name should be memorable, relevant to your business, and easy to spell. Consider using your business name or a variation of it.
4. **Select a Reliable Hosting Provider:**
Choose a hosting provider that offers good up-time, fast loading speeds, and responsive customer support. Shared hosting is usually a cost-effective option for small websites.
5. **Pick the Right Content Management System (CMS):**
A CMS makes it easy to create and manage content. WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal are popular options. I am biased to WordPress and WordPress is user-friendly and offers numerous plugins and themes.
6. **Select a Professional Design:**
Choose a clean and visually appealing design for your website. It’s best to opt for a responsive design that works well on both desktop and mobile devices. You can either use pre-designed templates or hire a web designer to create a custom design.
7. **Optimize for User Experience (UX):**
Your website’s navigation should be intuitive. Use clear headings, menus, and a logical structure. Make sure your website loads quickly, as slow loading times can drive users away.
8. **Create Compelling Content:**
Content is king. Develop high-quality, relevant, and engaging content that speaks to your audience’s needs. Use a mix of text, images, videos, and infographics to convey your message effectively.
9. **Implement Clear Calls to Action (CTAs):** This where you invites your visitors to take action.
Each page should have a clear and compelling call to action that guides visitors towards your desired action, whether it’s making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or contacting you.
10. **Optimize for SEO:**
Search engine optimization (SEO) is crucial for your website’s visibility in search engines. Research keywords relevant to your business and incorporate them into your content, headings, and meta descriptions.
11. **Integrate Analytics:**
Set up tools like Google Analytics to track user behaviour on your website. This data will help you understand what’s working and what needs improvement.
12. **Include Contact Information:**
Make it easy for visitors to get in touch with you. Include a dedicated “Contact Us” page with your email address, phone number, and possibly a contact form.
13. **Test Your Website:**
Before launching, thoroughly test your website on different browsers and devices to ensure it looks and functions correctly everywhere.
14. **Create a Launch Plan:**
Plan your website launch strategically. Make sure all content is in place, all links work, and your site is fully functional before promoting it.
